Fancy Girl

(Friday, January 6, 2012)

Finally, I am back!!  After a busy holiday season, lots of family sickness & our cat dying, I got seriously behind in everything.   I’ve been working hard to restore the house to order and I want to get back to freezer cooking so I’ve been working on constructing menus, etc.   Also, Nathan’s 7th birthday was Tuesday, 1/3 so I was busy with his birthday dinner & getting ready for his first kid birthday party tomorrow.      I’m going to steadily work through pictures tonight and backdate them as I post them.   Hopefully I can catch up!

December 9, 2001- Savvy is such a fancy girl.   A few months ago she started to go into the bathroom at the end of naptime to “do her hair”.    The picture below is a MILD example of her work- it is not uncommon for her to come down in the afternoon with a rainbow of 10 or more different colored bows or clips in her hair.   She also raids her dresser for all kinds of treasures that go with other outfits- removable collars, shorts, tutus, etc. to pair with her “outfit”.     She is something else.

Tea Party

Saturday, December 3: While the men were at work, we ladies had a tea party.  Strawberry lemonade & Pepperidge Farm gingerbread cookies.    Such a perfect Saturday morning with my favorite girls.

I had a bad dream…

12/6/11

Savannah came into our room this morning with this little gem:  “I had a bad dream last night.  There was a monster in the woods.  He ate some bad medicine and turned into a chicken nugget!”   haha- kids are so great!  :D

Fancy Girl

9/26/11 My Mom gave Savannah a “Fancy Nancy” book for her birthday.   Savannah’s favorite picture book is “Bread and Jam for Frances”.   Someone she has merged the two in her mind and calls it “Frances Nances”.    Here’s Savvy dressed up as “Fwances Nan-ces”, as she pronounces it.

End of summer, vol. 2.

Funny from Savvy

7/17/2011, 9:25pm-   Kip & I are watching our summer series (NYPD Blue) and we hear a great wailing upstairs.   Kip rushes upstairs to discover Savannah slipped off the stool while trying to fix herself a drink of water and has gotten her nightgown all wet.    Oh the horror.   On top of that, she’s sobbing because she left her little pet carrying bag with a stuffed duck in the car.    Really, the suffering.    So, we whisk her downstairs.    Kip got her items out of the car while I settled in a chair with her, quieted her down and took her wet clothes off.   Kip came back in and I asked him to hand me a pair of clean pajamas from the dining room table.   (I was folding laundry in there earlier this afternoon.)  He couldn’t find any and swore there wasn’t any pajamas in there.   So I said “allright, if I get up and find a pair of pajamas, will you give me a $20 bill?”     So I got up and, sure enough, there was her pajamas on the table.    After getting her changed, I told her to go over to Kip and hold her hand out and say “Pony Up!   Slap me a $20!”   She got all confused and said “SLAP ME A PONY!”.   ohmyword, Kip & I fell out laughing, it was so, so funny!
