We’ve been studying The Boston Tea Party- reading about it, watching a Liberty’s Kids video on it, etc. While Kip & I were inside and the little girls were napping, Mary & Nathan grabbed a Sharpie Marker & decided that they were going to “put on a show” (act out) about The Boston Tea Party. They made themselves into “Mohawks” like the colonists did… Good Heavens. And on Easter Sunday, 90 minutes before we’re supposed to leave for evening church- what a mess!

Girls Day Out

4/22/2011- BUILD-A-BEAR!

On Friday, 4/22 I took Mary & Savvy out for a girls day out.  Mary still had birthday money for Build-A-Bear and Savannah had never been before, so off we went.   The girls had an absolutely glorious time!       Then it was out for shoe shopping as Mary’s crocs had literally blown out in the front & her toes were hanging out!  Savannah’s crocs were several sizes to small so they were both due a new pair.    Then we went out to lunch at Chick-Fil-A and came home.  A very nice morning!

An Oldie….

One of my all time favorite pictures from the archives-

Mary & Nathan (3 1/2 and 2 1/2 years old)- 9/29/2007

“Mama, he’s trying to kiss me!”

Oh my, how they have grown!   Mary looks so little, so *young*… I can hardly believe it.   Look at that smile on Nathan & his cute little pug nose.    Don’t they look like they are having a grand time.   4 years later & they still love each other & play together constantly.     I so want & pray & hope that they will maintain a close relationship as they grow into adulthood!

Feb. 12, 2011

Mary built a “city of God” with her blocks.  She drew & cut out pictures of angels and placed them around her city.    She is such a cute girl- really, her Daddy & I just treasure her so much!

Feb. 12 was President Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday.   We watched some videos about Abraham Lincoln’s life, made a Lincoln Log cake & got out their Lincoln Log building set- a very fun day!

I’m including a picture of these little gems because, ohmy- they are DELICIOUS!    It’s a small square pretzel with a Rollo melted on top (350 degrees for about 3 minutes) with a M&M pushed down on the top after they are taken out of the oven.   A yummy combination of salty & sweet.   These are definitely going in my holiday baking rotation- I think the neighbors will like them!

Mary’s Birthday Party

Saturday, February 5, 2011

Mary had her first ever kid birthday party- she had SO much fun! We invited 3 other sets of sisters- her cousins, Jewell & Jenna, her favorite friend Jasmine & her sister Rebecca, and her friend Adela & her sister Nora.   Including Mary & Savvy that was 8 little girls!   Because Mary loves art, we settled on an art-themed birthday party.   The girls painted canvases and did several other crafts.   We had an artist palette cake, played charades & had a #7 pinata.    Mary had a wonderful, wonderful time and I was so happy to make a nice memory for her.     Unfortunately, I was so busy that I didn’t get to take many pictures- Amy H. took some with her camera so I am hoping to add her pictures to this post when she sends them to me.

We started off the day with our traditional surprise Birthday morning & 3 presents from Daddy & Mommy.

We always do a surprise cake.  We make it in secret the night before & hide it until the birthday dinner.   Since Mary was having her first ever kid party on Saturday with an Art theme, we did an Artist’s Palette.

The long awaited pillow pet from Aunt Sarah!

Lyra’s first ever taste of cake- she LOVED it!!

Measuring

11/27/2010

I gave Mary some instruction on proper measuring techniques and then set her up to practice with the measuring cups and a large bowl or rice.   She recently told me “Mom, now that I know how to bake pie, can I start making food? “   She wants to start helping to make dinner so I thought I’d give her a refresher on accurate measuring.

Savvy, joining in!
