Rub-A-Dub-Dub-Fun-In-The-Tub

1/10/12: Does anyone see anything wrong with this picture??

I gave Lyra a nice bath, got her freshly diapered, put on clean warm jammies.   She was all ready for bed.      I left Nathan in the bath tub while I finished  putting laundry away.   Lyra was (I thought) playing with Mary & Savannah in their room.   A few minutes later Nathan starts calling for me.   Lyra decided that she really hadn’t had enough fun times in the tub, so she climbed back in- diaper, pajamas and all.   She was allready wet so I just let her play with Nathan while the tub drained.   And of course, I had to grab my camera for a few pictures.    She is such a fun baby.

Lyra and the piano

December 16, 2011

Lyra LOVES the piano!

December 22, 2011
Lyra with our piano teacher, Mr. Hicks. She *adores* him and the feeling is mutual. He has a little granddaughter about her age who lives out West & he has never seen her. So I think he especially enjoys her for that reason.   He is a long-time widower and so he stays and eats dinner with us every week after lessons are finished. On this night he stayed after dinner and watched “The Polar Express” with us, which he had never seen. We had my Mom’s awesome homemade hot chocolate recipe and popcorn. Such a nice evening.

Lyra, 18 months

Beautiful Girl

10/21/2011- Lyra, 18 months old.

I was stressing out about Lyra’s 18month picture the entire month of October.     We had a very busy month & many extra expenses and I just couldn’t seem to get the time or money to have her 18mo. picture done but I had done it for the older 3 children and wanted hers to be done as well.   There is such a big difference between 12 months & 2yo. that I really like to get their picture done at that halfway mark- not quite a baby anymore but not quite a big kid yet.    Lucky for me, my sister got married on October 21.   Not only did we gain some wonderful new family members- her new husband and his two lovely daughters- but I also got access to a professional photographer!     She took this lovely picture of our sweet girl and was kind enough to email me the file.

Another Nathan Funny

We have a DVD player in our van with two screens- one for the middle row of seats & one for the back row of seats.   The one in the back row hangs in front of Savannah’s seat and she is constantly fiddling with the cord with her feet.   Of course, the cord was broken and until we get a new one that screen will not work.   Last night we got into the car to head out for an early dinner before church and Savvy started in fussing about how she can’t see the screen in the middle because Nathan’s head is in the way.   I turned around and gave her the adult lecture- “We told you to leave the cord alone or it would break.   You kept messing with it and now it’s broken so you’ll just have to deal with it.   Nathan can’t move, he’s in his booster seat with a seat belt on.   Next time you’ll learn to leave the cord alone!” (or something like that).   Nathan pipes up with this:  “Mom, you know what that’s called, don’t you?  It’s called “paying the stupid tax!”

ohmyword, I haven’t stopped laughing about that since last night!

As an aside- we very nearly lost Lrya’s bibi- the crocheted blanket that my Aunt Carolyn made her.   Last night we decided to go out to dinner before church.  We went to one restaurant and it was closed, we went to a second restaurant but  my sister called & said it was no good so we ended up going to Chili’s.   Afterwards we noticed Lyra’s blanket was missing.  After much searching in the restaurant, parking lot, van, etc. we started back tracking.   We finally found it back at the first restaurant we stopped at- it had fallen out of the van doors when I opened them.   Some kind soul found it and hung it up on railing.  Crises averted!   I was planning on calling my Aunt and begging her to make me another ASAP.   Lyra is quite attached to it and she would have been heartbroken if it had been lost.    We missed church, which was disappointing, but at least we got her bibi back!

Lyra & Mr. Hicks

Lyra’s love affair with our piano teacher, Mr. Hicks, continues…

10/24- As usual, Mr. Hicks ate dinner with us after lessons.  Nothing would do but for Lyra to sit in his lap at dinner.   She didn’t want to get down and he wouldn’t hear of me making her get down.

10/27-  Could she be ANY cuter??? I think not!

Just look at her- isn’t she beautiful??   We just love our squishy little baby!

Sweet

This picture is so sweet that it needed its own post.

Where I’ve been…

I’ve been having major problems with my macbook for the past few weeks & we’ve been on vacation.  I’m hoping to get my computer fixed by the end of this week so that I can start posting again.  I’ve got lots of fun pictures of apple picking, our vacation, etc.

ALSO: as a note to myself- Lyra started to answer questions and follow simple directions this week while we were at Williamsburg.    She will (sometimes) answer simple questions with “yes”- as in “Lyra, do you want more spaghetti?” with “YES!”.    And several times recently I’ve asked her to close a door or put a dish away in the drawer and she did as she was asked.  Roo is getting so big!  She turned 18 months old while we were in Williamsburg.   We sure do enjoy her!

End of summer, vol. 2.

September 1, 2011-  Last day at the pool!

Sweet sisters…
