Three Little Jewells

Beach!

Actually, I wasn’t just taking a break, we went to the beach for a week! I just didn’t want to advertise to the whole wide interweb that our house was going to be empty for 8 days, you know?

Here is a link to the house we stayed at: Give Me A Break

And, on to the good stuff- Pictures!

It’s no exaggeration to say that the kids spent 99% of their time at the beach racing back and forth into the water like this.

On Tuesday night we took the kids put put golfing and go-kart racing for the first time.  Here’s Kip and Mary riding the train to the top of the put put course.

On Wednesday we went to the NC Acquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.  We saw a “live feed”, a “live dive” and went to a class on sea turtles.  Here is Nathan petting a Horseshoe Crab.

During the class on Sea Turtles, Mary got called up to the stage to help with the presentation.    She was BEYOND thrilled with this!

Thursday morning Kip helped the kids build this big sea turtle down on the beach.

Friday we took the kids on a trip to Shackelford Island.  We started by taking a tour boat from Beaufort out to Shackelford Island.   There was a “pirate” on board who taught the kids some about Blackbeard the pirate.  When we got to the island each child received a treasure map and the pirate led them all on a treasure hunt.

Nathan-  “AAARRRGGGHHH!”  Doing his best pirate face while still on the boat.

After the treasure hunt was over the rest of the party wanted to go back to the beach.   SO- Pirate Jen took our family up to Lookout Dune to spot the wild ponies.   The kids enjoyed having one-on-one time with her and Mary loved seeing the ponies.
