Jewell Family Reunion
Kip’s family has their own museum. I *think* this is the church that his Granddad Jewell used to preach it. When the church died out/moved the building went up for sale and Kip’s Dad bought it. One of his cousins manages it for him and turned it into a Jewell Family Museum. There’s lots of neat stuff in there- albums of pictures, models of Jewell Family homes and stores, artifacts, etc. What a neat heritage for my kids someday!
The best part of the day was Savannah winning the prize for the youngest Jewell in attendance. They gave her a GORGEOUS hand crocheted blanket- honestly, it’s just beautiful. I also had to take her up to the front of the gathering and talk about Savannah- her name, how old she was, etc. When I announced that she was Mel Jewell’s youngest granddaughter and that the two of them had a special love- he just beamed with pride! It was really nice. I could tell that he just loved that everyone got to see HIS beautiful granddaughter!
Here’s the museum.
Inside the small backroom where the more important things are kept. You can see replicas of Kip’s Grandparents house along the back wall, Mary is looking at a bell owned by one of the Jewells. The boy is our 13yo nephew, Hollis.
Kip’s Dad, Mel, as a little boy- He looks like he’s up to something. Still is!
Kip’s Dad, Mel, in his uniform- Navy? Coast Guard?
BROTHERS! Uncle Jimmy on the Left, Mel on the Right.
COUSINS! Mary on Left, Jewell Caputa, Nathan. Kip’s cousin, Amy, adopted Jewell from China. They have another little girl coming from China this winter!
